Wan Jie, male, born in Beijing in 1962, is the Chairman and President of Artron Art Group, a member of the 11th and 12th CPPCC (circle of press and publishing), a standing member of the 10th CPPCC Guangdong Committee and the 4th and 5th CPPCC Shenzhen Committee, a member of the 9th, 10th and 11th China Democratic League Central Committee, a Vice-director of its Culture Commission and a standing director of its Academy of Fine Arts, a Vice-director of the 4th and 5th China Democratic League Shenzhen Committee.
 

In 2009, he was included into “Four Groups” managers of national publicity and culture system authorized by the Department of Publicity, CPC Central Committee and served as a Ph.D. adviser at Chinese National Academy of Arts, a Vice-president of Copyright Society of China, a Vice-chairman of China Committee of Corporate Citizenship, an initiator and director of the Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation, a director and primary Vice-president of Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology, a director of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Taofen Fund, the President of Young Curators Foundation of Wu Zuoren International Foundation of Fine Arts and an initiator of Shenzhen Mangrove Wetlands Conservation Foundation. 
 

He has won such titles as “Top 100 Publishers and Outstanding Entrepreneurs at the 60th Anniversary of New China”, “CCTV China’s Annual Economic Figures 2008”, “Chinese Culture Figures 2012” and “Annual Figures of China’s Cultural Industry 2012”.
 

Hitherto, Wan Jie has led Artron winning over 500 awards and honors both at home and abroad including all the top printing awards of the world, forming “business cards of Chinese culture” characteristic of “Artron’s presence in all major events of the nation”. Artron’s representative work “China’s Art Work Database” is praised as “Imperial Collection of Four of China’s Art” by filling the blanks of China’s and world’s artwork data field and making significant contribution for the protection of world’s non-material cultural heritage. Under his leadership, www.artron.net has been turned into an important window to spread Chinese culture and art. Also, China’s largest, most comprehensive and professional digital art publishing and art book systems have been established in Artron to serve over 1 billion users around the world with various art publications and further promote, spread essence of mankind culture. In addition, he has led Artron, with “art education” as the core, bringing art to people’s daily life by means of “mobile galleries”, “art auditoriums”, high-emulation art duplication and derivatives, art images with an aim to enhancing social harmony with “culture” and promoting art prosperity and development.
Moreover, Wan Jie has made outstanding contributions in such fields as intellectual property right protection, environmental protection welfare and schooling donation.

 

I. At the world’s top art service institution and art book manufacturing base, he leads China’s printing industry to the world’s top
In 1993, Wan Jie founded Shenzhen Artron Color Printing Co., Ltd. (the predecessor of Artron Art Group), proposed a creative idea that “Printing is part of service industry” and witnessed excellent achievements in high-end printing field so that Artron became China’s first base of printing standardization and new technology R&D and promotion, and its world’s leading printing levels have been greatly honored both at home and abroad.

 

Artron has become world’s topmost art service institution and art book manufacturing base by printing over 60,000 kinds, 300 million volumes of world’s top publications and art books, and providing high-quality integrated art services to nearly 60,000 artists, over 230 publishing houses, over 100 museums, galleries and memorials both at home and abroad, and art and business clients from nearly 30 countries.
 

Since founding Artron, Wan Jie has led his team winning many international awards including 35 Benny Awards, the “Oscar” of global printing business, and assumed State-level major printing tasks for Beijing Olympics, Paralympics, celebrations of 60th anniversary of New China, Shanghai Expo, Guangzhou Asian Games, Shenzhen Universiade and New Year’s cards of State leaders, forming “business cards of Chinese culture” characteristic of “Artron’s presence in all major events of the nation”.

 

II. Transform from traditional industry to modern culture innovation industry and explore China’s new eco-cultural industry
To protect and inherit excellent Chinese culture and art achievements as well, Wan Jie has led Artron, upon modern IT, copyright authorization and intellectual property right protection system, to accumulate rich digital art resources, built two core platforms including “China’s Artwork Database” and www.artron.net, and from databases and Internet platforms derive design, photography, printing, publishing, art market information, Internet ad service, art database, digital asset management, art images copyright dealing service and other B2B services and products with an aim to “serving the people with art”. 

 

For years, Wan Jie has led Artron carrying out innovations and reforms and building www.artron.net, the world’s largest China artwork database and portal. He initiated Artron business model characteristic of “art data as the core, IT as means and coverage of full art chain”, forming interconnected cultural industry chain and providing art market with comprehensive and integrated one-stop services in which the traditional industry has been turned into cultural industry with digital artwork asset as its core. Such model has been praised as “the optimal business model” by Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and business media.

 

III. Popularize art education by “serving the people with art”
It has been Wan Jie’s dreams to popularize art education, promote excellent art and upgrade art quality of the public. Under his leadership, Artron has edited and integrated the resources in China’s Artwork Database, and upon copyright authorization and intellectual property right protection system, has formed a series of products including traditional art publications, digital art publications, Internet art publications, artwork e-business, art images, high-emulation art duplication and other art derivatives, so that those “highly hidden” cultural treasures can be accessible to the general public and silently enhance their art accomplishment and spiritual pursuit with art popularization as its ultimate objective.

 

Wan Jie has provided his clients with unique art popularization means - “Mobile Gallery for Artron’s Artwork”. Upon authorization system and high-tech scanning and duplication, such advanced art space and education solutions have turned precious artwork into high-emulation duplication artwork. To promote education, Wan Jie has established “Artron Scholarship” and “Artron Teaching Prize” at Beijing Institute Of Graphic Communication as the first person to establish scholarship and teaching prize on behalf of an enterprise since the founding of the institute. Moreover, Artron has jointly launched a public welfare activity “Convey hopes and ‘write’ dreams by helping build libraries in remote areas” with China Democratic League Shenzhen Committee and Vanke.
 

To promote environmental protection, Wan Jie has joined Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology as its director and actively been engaged in improvement and recovery of the ecological environment of Alxa, Inner Mongolia as well as alleviation and containment of sand storm which were very conducive to the ecological improvement of and development of Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology.
 

To promote culture, with relentless efforts Wan Jie has led Artron to protect essence of traditional Chinese culture and non-material cultural heritages by means of building China’s Artwork Database and offering the art circle with integrated services. At the 15th anniversary of the founding of Artron, Wan Jie made a corporate will to donate the world’s largest China’s Artwork Database that Artron made to the nation as a corporate heritage and turn it to lasting and precious cultural resource and wealth of Chinese nation. At the same time, Wan Jie, joined by other seven entrepreneurs, launched the Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation with the Forbidden City, doing unforgettable contribution for the inheritance and protection of excellent Chinese culture. For seven consecutive times, www.artron.net has launched “Award of Art China•Annual Influence” appraisal activities which, as the most important annual carnival in the field of art, have attracted passionate participation of artists and celebrities, and as a key platform to promote contemporary Chinese art and regulate art market, have helped young artists a lot to develop towards international stage through such a bright star thoroughfare.


V. Honors of Wan Jie

Outstanding achievements:

On Jan 13, 2015, the 4th Council of the 5th Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecology and the 4th Council of the 3rd SEE Foundation were held at Beijing Vantone Center. Chairman Wan Jie and current President Ren Zhiqiang, and Feng Lun, Zhang Xiaoguang, Qi Hongbo and other directors or supervisors all attended the meetings and cast votes on key issues.

On Nov 27-28, 2014, he attended the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th China Democratic League Central Committee carrying out obligations to participate in the management of State affairs as a member.

On Nov 15, 2014, he led Artron winning “China’s Most Influential Enterprises of Copyright 2014”.

On Nov 7, 2014, he led Artron winning “Demonstration Bases of Developing Business through Copyright in Guangdong Province”.

In Nov 2014, he led Artron winning “National Demonstration Printing Enterprises”.

On Oct 29, 2014, he was formally employed as a Vice-dean of Forbidden City Academy.

On Sept 29, 2014, he led Artron winning 7 Benny Awards, the “Oscar” in the field of printing, and holding the Grand Awards as the largest winner of the world-class contest. Over the past five years, Artron has won the world’s largest number of gold awards, leading the global high-end art printing and famous for its craftsmanship pursuing perfection.

On Sept 17, 2014, he attended the 5th China International Copyright Expo upon invitation and made a key-note speech “Develop art industry with IT”.

In July 2014, he led Artron winning “National Key Enterprises of Culture Export 2013-2014”.

On June 26, 2014, he attended a bi-weekly negotiation symposium of CPPCC and made proposals on “Optimizing business initiation and employment conditions for university graduates”.

On Nov 30, 2013, Chairman Wan Jie was granted “Outstanding Achievement Award for China’s Copyright Enterprise” by Copyright Society of China to honor his leadership of Artron and outstanding contribution for China’s copyright enterprise and efforts to inherit, protect, promote and develop Chinese culture.

On Nov 25, 2013, Chairman Wan Jie and the expo Stories of Light and Shadow - Approaching Artron’s Photographers he designed won a “Nomination Award of China’s Excellent Curators 2013”.

In 2013, he led Artron winning 6 Benny Awards of the 64th Premier Print Awards and 36 awards in total, the largest number in the history of Artron. It made prominent the brand profile of Artron as a global leader of art printing.
